Monica is an Early Childhood Educator, with more than 20 years in the field who is passionate about adult-child engagement. Among her goals is that every child has an adult that can read and talk with them, which increases vocabulary and comprehension.
In her current position with ParentChild+, an international early literacy home visiting model whose mission in part is working with families, caregivers, and communities to support not only early literacy and school readiness, but early opportunities; Monica leads a team of community members who work with families and child care providers. She has won several awards in her role as a community activist and organizer, as well as holding a degree in Christian Counseling.
Monica is also the author of The Ice Cream Man Is Coming and Our Family Is Different. Both books aim to share the joy of reading for young children.
